Wrong kind of business major

As a young kid, I never could settle on a plan for my life. I didn’t know where I wanted to live, who I wanted to be with, or what I wanted to do for a career. In fact, I think I shuttled between about 10 different career choices between the ages of 14 and 15, alone. It’s a lot of pressure to be a young kid and find that you’re expected to choose a life path with your very limited world knowledge. The pressure only intensifies as you approach senior year, and everyone around you seems to have a plan. That’s how I wound up getting into business school right after highschool. I had no clue what to choose, so I went into the most basic major possible.. And I made a terrible mistake. Sure, I should have been interested in business, by my focus should have been the HVAC business. I slaved away at school, graduated with honors, and could not get a single job. Meanwhile, my brother took a different path and went to heating, ventilation, and air conditioning school. He took two years of coursework and completed an intensive internship before I had even gotten halfway through my schooling. When he graduated with an HVAC certification he was immediately hired by a huge ventilation company in the city. Meanwhile, I found myself working an entry level position at a crappy marketing company. My brother learned more and more about furnace and AC repair, and accelerated through the ranks of the other ventilation technicians. Soon, he was running the entire HVAC business and directing over 20 certified ventilation experts. He makes 6 figures with his 2 year air temperature control degree. Here I am, on the other hand, still working in a cubicle with my expensive 4 year business degree.
