Dog loves radiant heated floors

When I met my dog I knew that I had found my soulmate.

He’s a little rough looking on the outside and has a tough guy demeanor when you first meet him.

He’s very socially awkward around his peers and often lashes out at them defensively because he’s insecure. He’s secretly a big sweet heart, and will crawl right into your lap for cuddles once he feels comfortable enough to trust you. He also tends to be cold, and loves to snuggle up in piles of blankets, just like me. In fact, this dog will seek out just about any heat source and wrap his big body around it. I understand entirely, because I am naturally cold in every environment. The struggle is real. Last year when my furnace was continually breaking down, I realized that it was time to make a big home improvement. I wanted to finally get myself high quality heating equipment so that I could be warm and comfortable in my own home for once. I looked at several highly rated energy efficient furnaces, but I knew what I could expect from them; uneven temperatures and inefficient temperature delivery. After that, I decided I wanted radiant heated floors so I could deliver the exact warmth that I desired directly beneath the space where I needed it. I had my whole home outfitted with radiant heated flooring, and I can tell you that I’ve never been warmer or happier with my home temperature control system in my life! The only hiccup I’ve run into is constantly tripping over my dog. These days, there’s no way to keep him from laying splayed open on the wonderfully heated floors.

No natural ventilation in the house

I love the house that we’re renting. It is super large and spacious, has a ton of storage, and is situated on a large and private piece of land. I have room to do my artistic work, while my husband has space for all of his percussion instruments. Our dog has a huge yard to snuff around in and a large deck to soak up the sun. The place is really great, with the exception of one thing. The indoor temperature control is totally jacked. It isn’t the heating and cooling equipment, itself. I wish that it was as simple as replacing the air conditioner and furnace to have better indoor temperature control. Instead, I’m pretty sure that the house is inherently doomed to have terrible indoor comfort. See, it is a split-level home, which means we have totally uneven temperatures throughout the place. Each floor is a distinct temperature gradient, with the top floor being rather hot and the lowest level brutally cold. Even worse, however, is the lack of natural ventilation. Sure, we have plenty of windows and doors all around the house. One would think that you’d just have to open up the house to secure a nice, refreshing breeze inside. This is not the case. Even with every window and door open, I swear that I never notice a difference in the indoor temperature or air quality. This means that even on cool nights, there’s no way to move the comfortable outdoor air inside of our home. I’m pretty tired of sleeping in sweaty and muggy conditions for no reason, but I also refuse to operate the air conditioner when all the cool and refreshing air resides right outside my window!

HVAC bidding wars

I don’t mean to brag, but I’m becoming a pretty big deal in this little town.

It’s a small village that really hasn’t seen much change in the past 50 years.

When I moved in last year, I decided things needed to advance around here. I decided to open my own shop/cafe downtown with a hip atmosphere and unusual wares. The first thing I needed for my chosen shopfront, however, was some sort of temperature control system. The old building was lacking any sort of central heat, and the air conditioner that was installed had to be at least 25 years old. The old cooling system barely even powered on, and only pushed out lukewarm, dusty air. I immediately contacted a major HVAC dealership in town and asked for a commercial quote for central heating and cooling, as well as professional installation. At the same time, I contacted a second ventilation shop through their online form. Within minutes, I had obtained detailed HVAC quotes from both companies, and began negotiating between the two of them. Let me tell you, once they got wind that another heating and cooling specialist was potentially getting my large business order, those prices started dropping. Suddenly I was getting top of the line temperature control equipment with free smart thermostats and no installation fees from one company. The other countered with zone controlled heating, the most highly energy star rated furnace and AC on the market, and lifetime service package. I’m loving all these discounts, but I don’t know who to choose and the competition is getting out of hand. The other day I invited them out to look at the space, and the ventilation shop owners had an all-out brawl in front of my store.

Real estate listing almost tricked me

I feel like I’m going cross eyed at this point in the day, and it’s not even 10am.

  • I spend way too much time staring at computer screens.

At a certain point I feel like my eyes and brain start to fail me with all the detailed reading I do. See, not only do I work online and operate my own small business front digitally, but I’m also currently on the market for a new house. That means I spend countless hours hunched over my laptop browsing online listings these days. Sometimes the housing information really gets difficult to read, which is how we almost got scammed last week. I was looking into a local property that seemed pretty great. When I got to the property details, my eyes skimmed over the heating and cooling methods section without fully absorbing them. I assumed that the house would be outfitted as usual, with a forced air furnace and central air conditioning unit. I didn’t expect anything great or high tech. There were no expectations for radiant heated floors, zone controlled heating and cooling, or a smart thermostat, even. However, I did anticipate that the house would have traditional indoor temperature control features. What I didn’t see until my boyfriend viewed the listing was the words “natural ventilation” under the heating and cooling section. Wait a second, I thought. What entails “natural ventilation”? When I contacted the listing agent, I soon found out. This was her creative way of saying the home didn’t actually have a furnace or AC unit installed; it had working windows.

Waking up wifey

If there’s one thing I value about myself, it’s being quite resourceful.

  • I think that’s a enjoyable characteristic to have because it allows me to get by in life through less means than other humans.

It also is an all-encompassing sort of personality trait that entirely indicates other proficiencies, in my opinion, then to be resourceful, you also must be quite critical, logical, as well as creative in order to get the task done, and that’s exactly how I feel when I’m leveraging the Heating plus Air Conditioning system against my wifey in order to rouse him in the morning. You see, this boy is one of the hardest sleepers I’ve ever met, then he also appreciates to sleep in all morning if you let him, which I don’t. I found that nagging him to get up only results in us fighting, although I can utilize our central heating as well as cooling unit to further my own goals more covertly. Whenever I get up, I promptly go downstairs as well as start making coffee. I like to turn on a little fan in the family room so that the smell of my fresh brew is spread far as well as wide through the space, creating an inviting atmosphere downstairs. Then I go to the temperature control as well as crank up the heat, pumping tepid air through every vent in the house. The increased air temperature soon makes my guy feel quite uncomfortable in his sleep, as well as he begins to stir in bed. As the air only gets hotter, he pulls off the covers as well as switches on the overhead fan. The tea smell then wafts up to the home office from upstairs, filling the room with a delightful smell of morning joe. It’s only another minute or so after that before he comes grumpily stomping down the stairs, reaching his hand out for a cup of caffeine.

Wrong kind of company major

As a young kid, I never could settle on a plan for my life.

I didn’t know where I wanted to live, who I wanted to be with, or what I wanted to do for a job.

In fact, I feel I shuttled between about 10 bizarre job choices between the ages of 14 & 15, alone. It’s a lot of pressure to be a young child & find that you’re expected to choose a life path with your unquestionably limited world know-how. The pressure only intensifies as you approach senior year, & everyone around you seems to have a plan. That’s how I wound up getting into company university right after highuniversity. I had no clue what to choose, so I went into the most basic major possible.. And I made a terrible mistake, then sure, I should have been interested in business, by my focus should have been the HVAC business. I slaved away at university, graduated with honors, & could not get a single task. Meanwhile, my sibling took a bizarre path & went to heating, ventilation, & air conditioning university. She took two years of coursework & completed an intensive internship before I had even gotten halfway through my universitying. When she graduated with an HVAC certification she was instantly hired by a large ventilation supplier in the city. Meanwhile, I found myself toiling an entry level position at a crappy marketing supplier. My sibling learned more & more about boiler & A/C repair, & accelerated through the ranks of the other ventilation servicemans. Soon, she was running the entire HVAC company & directing over 20 certified ventilation experts. She makes 6 figures with her 2 year air temperature control degree. Here I am, on the other hand, still toiling in a cubicle with my costly 4 year company degree.

Extra task for heat

We all know that the winter time is a super stressful time of year for the majority of us.

There are so many additional pressures to fit into your correct life between the months of September & January, not to mention the horrific outdoor air temperature making every aspect of normal life a complete disaster.

It’s hard to get anything done, let alone finding time to purchase the most perfectly thoughtful gifts, shovel the driveway every three mornings, & finding a second or third task in order to afford the seasonal hardships. Yes, of course I’m referring to the added costs of buying presents & going to see with family… however in our dwelling the extra expenses include having to run the central heating at home. You see, our home is a rather spacious & poorly insulated old house. The attic is barely insulated & a lot of our heat flows straight out through the roof. There are many drafty windows that allow our warm air to leak out & the cool air to leak in. All in all, it’s a costly feat just to keep the indoor air at a moderate temperature. That’s why I have to go out & find additional toil around September each year, just to support our correct air temperature control at home. By the time I earn my first real paycheck the cool fall air is settling over the area & I can afford to have a professional HVAC inspector come out to repair the heater. From there on out, it’s continual heating each day, every day. It’s a bummer to do all that toil for unquestionably little, however at least every time the energy bill arrives in the mail I know I can spend money to keep the family warm.
